'I need to see the film' If Hue screws this up, he should be booed for the rest of the season if not fired right away. I'm feeling pretty good right now otherwise, as a huge Cleveland fan. With Baker we looked like a real NFL offense that could actually move the ball. The defense with Garrett and Ward is great, and I legitimately think the Browns aren't a bad bet to win the AFC North with the way the Steelers are stuggling.
We just need to sweep the Bengals. Bills fans: how tf was Tyrod Taylor a pro bowler last year??? Our offense showed flashes of Ohio State vs Rutgers (from the Rutgers point of view of course).
He repeatedly underthrew or overthrew wide open relievers and didn't know when to throw the ball away. Jeez, I can't count the times, especially on a running down (first and 10 or second and 5/or less) that he went back to pass, ran backwards a bit, and got sacked. He blew an easy touchdown when he overthrew Callaway (he's so fast, just chuck it to the endzone, damn it) and repeatedly missed wide open receivers for 10-15 yard gains. Opposite of Baker. What do you guys think of the new roughing the passer rule? The landing with your body weight nonsense.
I watch both Clay Matthews sack (on Cousins and Smith) where he was flagged for landing with his body weight. It looked like a clean take down to me. It wasn't as if he laid on the QB and refused to get up. Usually, I wouldn't think anything of such a stupid rule, but reading about a Miami DE who tore his ACL trying to avoid the roughing penalty. That got me thinking. The QB is already plenty protected by the rules.
This one stinks and should be removed because it'll cause more injuries than it prevents. They may as well put flags on the QB and an call it a sack if the defenders pulls off a flag. Click to expand.Linesmen are bigger now so it's more like 270+ pounds of beef landing on yer franchise QB. My beef with the rules is that it seems to be zero tolerance. Landing on the QB is an instant roughing penalty. Driving the QB into the ground (shades of old Suh) is roughing, I understand. But landing on the QB? Gimme a break.
They got padding to protect them. 275 pound linesmen blowing out their knees trying to pirouetting at the last second to avoid landing on the QB ruins the game as well.
They may as well turn it into backyard football with no O-line, no D-line and counting 10 Mississippi before rushing the QB. Anyhow, I'm all for protecting the QB, but they need to do it the right way. Like how the Oilers (Titans) protected HOF QB Warren Moon before all these rule changes: they invested 2 first round picks on 2 HOF linesmen (Munchak and Matthews).
Protect the QB by getting better linesmen, not with rule changes. These stupid rules are ruining the game and I'm beginning to lose interest. What do you guys think of the new roughing the passer rule? The landing with your body weight nonsense.

The way I've heard it explained, it sounds like almost any motion to take down the quarterback, even grabbing him around the legs (which I saw in one game) is enough to invoke the roughing the passer penalty. Ed Hochuli suggested a couple of ways that are legal. One is to simply hit the quarterback and as you fall to the ground, roll away. (Whether that's always realistic is questionable.) Another is to grab for his arm as he tries to throw the ball. I actually saw the latter, and it was hilarious, because the pass rusher circled around behind the QB and grabbed the guy's arm like, 'Hey, buddy, got a light?'
The QB actually spun around as if to see who wants him. And the ball came out. Okay, that was a fumble, which was all well and good. But fans of a big tackle for a loss are doomed to be disappointed. Is anybody trying to watch tonight’s TNF game with the Rams vs. The Vikings on Amazon Prime?
One of the big points of interest was that there is an audio feed of the first ever all female team calling the game: Andrea Kremer and Hannah Storm. And as much as I want them to do well.they’re not.
While (on the main audio feed) Joe Buck and Troy Aikman are describing the actual plays and dissecting strategies, Kremer and Storm are spending upwards of half their time talking about how teams acquired players, their stats from last year, questions they asked the players and coaches.and not so much time on the game itself. These are two women who are knowledgeable about football.
So why does so much of their game calling sound like filler? Were they told to concentrate on background info instead of describing the action on the field?
If so, it’s a great disservice to them. And they’re not helped by the fact that their audio mix is weak. I’m straining to hear them against the crowd noise.
It’s a shame. It’s not an impressive debut for women in the announcing booth. Is anybody trying to watch tonight’s TNF game with the Rams vs. The Vikings on Amazon Prime? Was hoping the seahawks would extend him but this injury really complicates things. On one side the seahawks won by not giving in on the other side they lose a free safety who is still top 3 at his position but on the wrong side of 30. The defense will suffer without him. The Hawks will also not be able to win games now with run run pass and a bad defense. If only russel wilson had a good oline.
Look at all the rookie qbs doing okay with a bad defense and good oline. Click to expand.I think punting was the right call. Elliot may have lead the league in rushing before Sunday, but he only got 54 yards against the Texans D. Garrett calling it a long 1 yard is right. Especially when they got stuffed in the previous play.
I would have given them a 1 in 5 chance of getting a first down. Another thing to look at was how the Cowboy's D had been playing in the 2nd half: forced a turn over at the beginning of the 2nd half for a quick TD and forced the Texans to punt almost every drive since.
If not for 'Nuk' Hopkin doing the whirling dervish for huge gains, the Cowboys would have gotten the ball back or time runs out. People would be sing a different tune then. Edit: The questionable call of that game should be O'Brien's going for it on 4th and goal on the 1 yard line with seconds left in the first half. Generally, you kick the FG and call it a half. The Cowboy's held.
The game should never have gone into OT.
